Drawing on the Walls at Lafayette Restaurant NYC

I got a curious call last Wednesday from Jacque Burke at NoHo Hospitality Group: could I be in New York tomorrow to paint pictures on the walls of Andrew Carmellini’s new restaurant in NoHo? If I agreed to come, she promised to cover my expenses and keep me well fueled with pastries, bouillabaisse and absinthe. Four days in Manhattan drawing pictures, eating decadently and drinking fine wines and spirits was an offer I couldn’t refuse. Friday morning I found myself standing in Lafayette, Chef Carmellini’s inspired, Roman & Williams designed, palace homage to soulful French cuisine. The days that followed began with Stumptown coffee and pastry Chef Jen Yee‘s masterfully crafted croissants. They ended with the likes of duck mousse tartine with cherries and walnuts; scallops à la Plancha with spring peas, morels and tarragon prepared by Chefs Carmellini and (Craft Alum) Damon Wise.  All was delightfully washed down with well poured glasses of 2011 Etienne Brana ’Harri Gorri’ Irouléguy and 2010 Etienne Brana Irouléguy ‘Ohitza.’

In between I dutifully fulfilled my obligation, and drew on their walls.

Canele Restaurant

Canale Restaurant Poster by Eric Junker

Canelé is one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles because of the food, Corina and Jane’s hospitality, and because it reminds me of another favorite restaurant from years ago in Paris. That restaurant was called Deux Vignes or Les Vignes, I don’t remember, exactly, probably due to the quantity of wine that was put away with every meal. Continue reading

A.O.C. Poster Commission

A.O.C. Restaurant Poster Commission by Eric Junker

Getting away from the computer and reconnecting with hand-made process seemed an appropriate way to celebrate the spirit of one of Los Angeles’ finest (and most well loved!) artisanal restaurants.  A.O.C. owners Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne commissioned me to create this limited edition, serigraph printed poster to honor the restaurant’s 10th Anniversary.

Reinventing a San Francisco Neighborhood

Few San Francisco residents knew the Parkmerced neighborhood. Those who did largely thought of it as a bleak mid-century planned community in the foggiest corner of the city. When Stellar Management purchased the 150 acre 3000 unit community and began to renovate the aging infrastructure, they hired Wagner/Junker to re-introduce the community to the San Francisco Bay Area. Research showed that San Francisco renters desired larger apartments and more open space, both of which exist at Parkmerced. Wagner/Junker created a successful online and advertising campaign promoting a neighborhood with larger lawns, more trees, and more butterflies. Within weeks of breaking the new campaign leasing traffic increased 300%-400%.

Creating a New Supplement Brand

Supplement Designs by Eric Junker

Fitness Ridge Enterprises came to us with the idea of creating a line of all-natural supplements to be used in support of their acclaimed life-changing weight-loss programs. Their nutritionists had developed the product formulas, and the challenge for us was three-fold: 1. Create a relavent, over-arching brand name that would communicate legitimacy while resonating in the crowded supplements marketplace 2. Invent unique (and uniquely searchable) product names 3. Design a packaging look and feel that would pop from crowded shelf space. Thus was born Better Century Health and their line of proprietary supplements set to debut at resorts across the country in early 2013.
